Magic Music Mapping

Hello!

Thank you for wanting to use these magical Music Mapping worksheets!  I have taught music many years and have developed these pages in my private studio to help beginning music students learn to read the staff.  After going through these worksheets students have a solid understanding of reading music and the connection between the staff and the keyboard.

My students have had great success with these pages.  After completing the Music Mapping worksheets students become efficient staff readers.  Their reading readiness boosts their confidence to accomplish more difficult levels of playing.

Teachers understand that a child can play more than they can read.  Teaching by rote or the use of pre-reading methods has proven beneficial.  The struggle of reading the staff slows the student down.  What if we could bolster the understanding of reading those crazy little circles on lines and spaces?  These worksheets do exactly that!

The Music Mapping worksheets can be introduced in the first lessons and administered throughout the first year of instruction.  The step-by-step breakdown of reading concepts strengthens and reinforces understanding of the music staff and its connection to the keyboard.

These worksheets are not intended as a stand-alone DIY curriculum for students, but are an addendum for teachers to use in their private studios and classrooms.  Teachers must have a working knowledge of letter names on the keyboard and of the staff to further instruct the students in completing each assignment.

I hope you find these pages useful and rewarding.  Thank you for choosing to use the Music Mapping worksheets!

Best regards,

Laurie Steffen
